Say you use a Mask to cut the visible unfilled Ellipse Stroke shape in half. Add a Mask to the stroke-only visible Ellipse and use the rectangular selection tool to select (mask) half of the Ellipse. It just let OS X do the conversion to a bitmap and then showing the converted result. Pixelmator Pro however has full RAW support, meaning it can work directly on the RAW files. However I do not know yet if this is for all RAW formats. You might end up with the more exotic ... Clipping masks are added as Image fill effects in Pixelmator Pro, applied to specific layers. So to access them, you'd need to select the layer used as the outline, choose the Effects tool and you'll find the texture/image used as the fill there.
When you download images of various objects from the web, they’ll often come with a solid white background.
