So, tried to upgrade my wife's iPad to 16.2 (it's a 32g A2270 - so 2020 / 8th generation model). Wouldn't upgrade OTA due to lack of space, so thought I'd try upgrading with it tethered to my Mac. Big mistake it would appear - got stuck in the factory restore loop.

Tried a few times, and... Side by side, the iPad Pro 3rd gen wins of course, but the difference is surprisingly subtle. iPad 8th generation is A12 + 3 GB RAM. I haven't used one myself but nonetheless it should be very good, with an SoC that is ballpark in the same league as A10X iPad Pro 2nd gen (sometimes better, sometimes worse), and the same amount of memory as iPad 7.

My girlfriends daughter's iPad (8th Generation) 32GB Wifi suddenly stopped working last week. After removing it from it's hardshell case she noticed the aluminium shell of the iPad has flexed and buckled at the location of the smart connector. This bend in the aluminium shell has broken the... I just bought an 8th generation iPad from the T-Mobile store by me Wednesday night. I charged it Wednesday night when I went to bed when it was around 50%, and used it all day yesterday for work, and since it still had 68% I did not charge it.

Been using it since 7 am and it still has 55%... My husband had a 32 gb 8th gen iPad. He was barely able to do the last iOS 18 update. Due to space issues, iOS 26 was a no go. He really doesn’t have much on the iPad, and we offloaded apps to get 18 up to date. So, while the 8th gen is compatible, it’s not feasible on the 32 gb model.
I have the 128 gb model and updated to iOS 26 no problem. Cannot install iPadOS 26 on iPad 8th Gen 32 GB. Any advice? The 8th gen IPad is excellent value for money though, but if you can get a Apple refurb IPad air 3 for the same price then id go for that.
