I do not have a 4K Blu-ray player & wishing to stay away from physical media, my plan was to watch Atmos/DTS:X content via streaming so being a Prime member, got myself an Amazon Firestick 4K Max for now. Dolby Atmos has 2 layers (and everything in between them of course). With Auro-3D there is a seperate "voice of god" channel, which is a mono signal in the ceiling playing over 1 or more speakers. I have configured my home theater as 18.1, which is basically to layers of 7.0 above each other on the walls + 4 speakers in the ceiling + LFE.

DD+ can carry Dolby Atmos from smart TV apps to an AVR or Soundbar.
